Live Like Luke helps families with kids who have lengthy hospital stays. While many of our applicants have childhood cancer, we have also helped families with Sickle Cell Disease, Bacterial Meningitis, Trisomy 21, complicated heart surgeries, organ transplants, and more.
Our goal is to help families spend more time together while their child is in the hospital.

When Wolo was diagnosed with cancer last September, life changed overnight for her family. Wolo and her family came to the United States as refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo and have spent the last several years building a life here without the support of extended family nearby. Her mother is a single mom who became the sole provider for the family, but had to resign from her job to care for Wolo during treatment and support Wolo’s younger brother with autism. In the middle of navigating hospital stays, treatments, and financial uncertainty, the family is also grieving the heartbreaking loss of Wolo’s twin brother just a few months ago. With rent becoming increasingly difficult to manage after losing her income, your support is helping ease some of the overwhelming burden this family is carrying so mom can focus on what matters most, caring for her children and walking beside Wolo through her cancer journey. ...

When Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia changed Liam’s life in January, it changed everything for his family too. After completing induction chemotherapy, Liam is now beginning consolidation treatment, and his mom made the heartbreaking decision to leave her job traveling to El Paso so she could remain by his side after her employer was unable to accommodate remote work. Along with the emotional weight of a childhood cancer diagnosis came countless unexpected medical and household expenses, creating immense financial strain for their family. Because of your generosity, we were able to provide support to help relieve some of that burden so Liam’s family can focus on what matters most: helping their brave boy continue his fight. #LiveLikeLuke ...

This month, Live Like Luke supported 11 families with over $25,000 in grants, helping parents stay where they need to be most, right beside their child’s hospital bed.
Because when a child is fighting, families should not have to choose between being present and staying afloat.
Thank you for being part of the hope, relief, and support we are able to provide each month. 🧡

Baby J’s life began with urgency, as his family relocated to Dallas after learning prenatally of a serious heart condition. At just 5 days old, he underwent open-heart surgery and continues to fight through complications in the NICU, including NEC and SVT. While his mom remains at his bedside, his dad is at home caring for their 2-year-old daughter and has been unable to work for over a month. In order to keep up with basic expenses, the family has even had to empty their 401k.
Live Like Luke was honored to step in during this overwhelming season, providing financial support to help ease the burden of monthly bills so this family could focus on what matters most, being together for Baby J.

Diagnosed with leukemia in 2022, Angel faced the unimaginable again when he relapsed last March. Since June of 2025, he has been in the hospital preparing for a bone marrow transplant. After his first transplant failed, Angel is now courageously undergoing a second transplant while battling significant side effects.
His mom remains faithfully at his bedside, while his dad is working tirelessly and making the 5-hour drive each week with Angel’s brother just to be together. The distance and long hospital stay have created a heavy financial strain, making utilities and a car payment overwhelming burdens.
At Live Like Luke, we are honored to help ease that burden so this family can focus on being together. 💙 Please keep Angel in your prayers and thank you for continuing to support families when they need it most.

About Luke
We lost Luke, our beautiful 6-year-old son, on October 2, 2021, after a year-long battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Even in his six short years, it was evident that Luke possessed a joy, a lightness of heart, and bravery that we could all learn from. Simply said: we were better people for having him in our lives. We believe if we wake up every day with the intention of living the way Luke lived, we can live in a better world.
About Us
In an effort to Live Like Luke, we are inspired to help those who are facing the challenges of childhood cancer. Though Luke’s time on earth was cut achingly short, the lesson he taught us as he bravely fought his battle with cancer endures.
While pursuing treatment for Luke, we witnessed firsthand the physical, emotional, and financial pressure impacting other patient families living in the rooms all around us.
It was common to witness young children alone in their hospital rooms because their parents could not afford to miss work. Parents are often forced to quit their jobs to be with their children during the intense medical treatment of their diseases, as well. These are just two examples of the heartbreaking difficulties we observed.
Luke’s legacy of joy, presence, and bravery has inspired us to establish the Live Like Luke Fund. Our mission is to honor Luke’s legacy by supporting families pursuing treatments similar to those Luke received during the last year of his life.
